Sound Familiar?

You want to get stronger. You just do not know where to start.

Many adults know that strength training is important.

But knowing that you should exercise is not the same as knowing what to do.

You may be wondering:

  • Which exercises are suitable for me?
  • Am I too unfit to start?
  • Will training make my old pain return?
  • How hard should I push?
  • Is this discomfort normal?
  • Why did my previous programme not work?
  • How do I know when I am ready to progress?
  • Can I still become strong at my age?

The answer is not always to work harder. Sometimes, you need a better starting point.

What Changes For You

Strength should make your life feel easier

Getting stronger is not only about lifting heavier weights.

It is about what that strength allows you to do. It may mean:

  • Walk farther without tiring
  • Climb stairs with confidence
  • Get up from a chair easily
  • Carry groceries, back at ease
  • Feel steadier on your feet
  • Return to what you stopped doing
  • More confidence, in and out of the gym
  • Keep your independence as you age
  • Handle more than you could before

The goal is not to turn you into a bodybuilder or competitive athlete.

The goal is to help you become stronger for your own life.

How We Train

Assess first. Build control. Add challenge step by step.

There is no single exercise programme that is right for everyone. That is why we begin with an assessment — not assumptions.

01

Understand your starting point

Your history, injuries, goals and what your week actually allows.

02

Choose exercises that suit you now

Range, load, reps, speed and support adjusted to your current ability.

03

Practise until it becomes reliable

Enough repetition to build real control — not a new workout every session.

04

Progress when you are ready

Harder only once the current version is confident and consistent.

Testimonials

Clients who trusted the process

I highly recommend Chris

I've trained with Chris for about approx. 4 years. One thing that stood out to me immediately was that Chris was able to calibrate his approach to the skill level of his clients.

Life-changing results

Chris is a tough-love kind of coach who demands your best, and it absolutely pays off. He's not just a strength coach who fixes knees — he's a good friend I keep in touch with. Highly recommended!

FAQ

Questions people ask before starting

Am I too old to begin strength training?+

Being older does not automatically mean you cannot become stronger. Your training simply needs to begin at a level that suits your current ability. The purpose of the assessment is to find that level.

Do I need to be fit before I start?+

No. You do not need to prepare yourself for personal training. Your programme should meet you where you are now.

What if I have not exercised for years?+

That is common. Many Darn Good Gym clients have been inactive for years rather than months. You will not be expected to train like someone who has remained active.

What if I have pain or an old injury?+

You should tell Chris about any pain, injury or medical history during your assessment. Darn Good Gym does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If your concern is new, unexplained, acute or worsening, you may need to see an appropriate healthcare professional before beginning.

You do not need to know exactly how to get stronger

That is what coaching is for.

You only need to be willing to begin at the right level, train consistently and improve one step at a time.

Your history may explain where you are starting.

It does not have to decide where you finish.

30 minutes. No obligation. Meet Chris, discuss your goals and leave with a clearer understanding of your next step.
